This is still rough. But apparently I like to compose blog posts over a span of time, even after hitting the “publish” button because it helps me become aware of potential readers. It’s not so “internalized” anymore. The words are getting OUT THERE.
Weddings are the type of family gatherings that force everyone to be happy, loving, supportive, positive and caring toward each other…
OK, maybe that’s not true for everyone.
That’s why we had a “tropical goth” wedding. Celebrating both the pleasures and pains of love. The dark and the light. Ya know, like like a happy Smiths song — here’s some silly lyrics I wrote to the tune of “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out:”
Tropical Goth is pop
pops of color, corals, greens
to break up the grays.
When there’s war on the news
And Johnny Depp offers color commentary;
It will be what it will be
Despite the algorithms and the filters
OK, stop right there. The iambic pentameter and syllables don’t quite fit the melody of Morrissey’s brilliant song so I just need to stop ruining it with my parody lyrics!! But seriously, I just wanted to not look at our wedding like it’s the “happiest day of our lives” because marriage is seriously serious even though everyone insists on color corrections, photo retouching.
We purposely chose happy tropical Corals and Deep Lagoons to color our Paradise Found in Florida to layer in between the folds of gray that is the reality of life. I mean…like…uhhhhhhhh.
While we were focusing
on the color with our families and friends,
Abortion became barely legal…
Yeah, that’s some tropical goth shit right there.
#wedding all colorful and pretty, meanwhile, the world went on a #mothersdaystrike #abortionaccess #abortionrights #slipperyslope #precedent
Yeah, that’s what a Wedding is in the 2020s……….
