In 2011, I landed a part-time gig as a web content manager for the National Academy for State Health Policy, aka NASHP, a think tank based in Washington, DC. It was the perfect compliment for my graduate studies in film and media at American University.

“I will use my tech career as a Femmebot to create a TV show about women of color building a tech startup!”

By 2015 I became a full-time employee and managed NASHP’s first website redesign from Drupal to WordPress. What does that mean? Building the architecture with the research team, creating a friendly interface with the designers, migrating content, beta-testing and launching.

By 2018, I became a consultant and managed a second website redesign and integrated data visualizations and automations to keep up with the times.

On a day-to-day basis, I layout all the research policy teams’ issue briefs, blogs, maps, infographics, webinars, annual conference agenda and videos, email newsletters, social media and anything else to help tell the story of public health in the United States, from the passing of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) to state actions on the COVID-19 pandemic.
